There are 10 homes for sale on Okanagan Lake with prices range from $1,680,000,000 for a small older home in Peachland up to around $20,000,000 for a 1600 square foot home with over 5000 feet of lake frontage on 142 acres. The average asking price for a Kelowna lakefront home is just north of $5 million.

 There’s an old adage that states “they aren’t building any more lakeshore” and it rings true for Kelowna. Having a 120 kilometre lake run through the middle of town has many benefits and when people first move here it’s really the thing that attracts them to this community. Yes, we have many other things to offer like an international airport, University of British Columbia Okanagan, Kelowna General Hospital, a pretty good economy, Big White ski resort, a zillion golf courses and two zillion wineries but it’s really the lake that wows people. It’s the first thing you see when you arrive by plane and it wallops you over the head when you reach the end of the Coquihalla highway.

 The culture here really revolves around the lake. On hot summer days, many people who live close enough will walk down to the lake for a picnic supper instead of hanging around a hot kitchen table. Locals who live in the hospital area along the Abbott corridor have many choices of friendly beaches to choose from but many locals have their little beach accesses and it’s a regular meeting place for many. We even have a beach on the lake dedicated to dogs. If volleyball is your thing there are leagues that go right through to Labour Day weekend.

Lakeshore Home Sales

 Last year in 2016 there were 5 lakefront homes that sold ranging in price from $920,000 upto $6,222,000.  The inventory has dwindled. Kelowna lakefront or water front sales are not as brisk as a typical residential middle class neighborhood like Glenmore or Shannon Lake but waterfront buyers know this from day one.
