RIO OLYMPICS Kierra Smith

Some of you on this email list know that our daughter, Kierra Smith, swims on Canada’s national  team and is set to compete at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next week.  Jo-Ann and I heading down to South America to watch her compete and I wanted to share Kierra’s schedule in case anyone is interested in following along.

 

100m women’s breaststroke prelims.   Sunday August 7th 9am pacific (1pm Rio time).  Kierra is ranked about 18th in this event and If she advances to the semifinals  (top 16) it will  be at 6pm Pacific time (10pm Rio time).

 

200m breaststroke prelims.  Wednesday August 10th (same times as above).  She has a better chance here and finished 8th at world championships last Summer.   Mostly the same people will be competing in Rio so she has a pretty good chance at a semifinal and perhaps a final.  Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and speculate beyond that J .    The finals will be Thursday August 11th at 6pm PST.

84 vacant homes on the market.

257 homes with suites.

 

A trend that is likely to continue is that we’re going to see more secondary suites in every area of town.   Legal or not, suites and renting out a bedroom or two are going to become more common as prices increase and inventory decreases.  Efforts by municipalities to build affordable housing work to a point but people with punishing mortgages need the revenue and young people need roofs over their heads.
